The Astrac

From: Toron Doron Commander of the Fist of Toron
To: Top Tier Comamnders, President Raman Da, National Intelligence Service
Mazzaroth City
Mazaroth System, Viran 10, 9702

When the human ship penetrated our defenses it surprised me and the high command of The Fist of Toron. I ordered an immediate mobilization, knowing that this was an embarrasment. Before the Y'Tang, or other members of the squadron mobilized, the small ship opened comms. The ship commander identified himself as a Human, from the Chara II System. Admiral Lauffer was on the comms and admised me that system was known by humans as YZ-Ceti and is known to us a Ta'nak. He also informed me that the ship was an unarmed commercial Trasn-Ship. They requested contact myself and my staff, which left us even more befuddled. Why on Mazzaroth would they ask to talk to the head of the Mercenary Command, and not our supreme leader?
Don’t get me wrong. We have known about humanity for over a millennia. In fact, we saved a group of them from their own technological folly. You’d think that nobody would board a TransShip before all systems are tested and retested. Anyhow, we also know that some of our pirates operate in Human held space and have done so for centuries. We have even made contact with one of their factions, in secrecy, over thirty cycles ago. Still, having this commercial ship breach our defenses with such ease shocked us.
In the end we agreed to let them make land fall and talk to us. They came in a mission of peace, and wanted to talk about a common concern, and that was the violation of standing Astrac Policy. No Merc is to get involved in interstellar corporate take overs. Most stellar nations do not take to this kindly and the last thing we want is an interstellar war, We have learned over the years, total war is not good for profits, since that level of destruction is too costly to repair. War is a sport, and a profitable one, as long as damage is kept to a minimum.

When they came to the Palace I was impressed by the two senior humans. They represented two different realms, which we believed were at war. Apparently they managed to find a way to peace, after they found how serious of a threat the Tal can be. The one that caught my attention fully was the woman with the two babies. She emanated energies from her mind, and was quite capable of penetrating my psychic shield, and the two babies, they had potential like I have never felt in my life.

Once we learned the horror perpetrated by one merc unit, they were struck from the records, never to be mentioned again. Their commander was arrested, and tried by the High Council. He was taken to the wall and executed within a day of conviction. I also ordered the human who hired him, confed to be specific, to be placed under arrest. He has since fled, but has been found guilty in-absentia. Upon capture he is to be executed within twelve hours, and his head sent to the Confederation to be presented to their President. This arrangement prevented the kind of war we fear, yet, we may face this total war against the Tal.

The council met in the first Astrac Council of War in over a thousand years and has agreed to form all units under a single command. They will fight to defend the Astrac Way of Life as a Regular army, and their pay will come from the spoils of war. The Human led fleet needs transports for the legions of ground forces, and we have offered these ships in exchange for spoils. Our contract is fair, and their human commander seems capable of fighting a total war.
